A dragline boom station upgrade was conducted on a Bucyrus (BE) dragline to repair and restore the structural integrity of the main chord and station, and prevent future fatige and cracking.
The existing boom stations (both sides) had extensive cracking in all of the weld joints which had spread into and aournd the main chord and lacings.
MachineLife’s Stegostation upgrade was provided on both sides of the boom as a stronger, more fatigue resistant, and more cost effective repair solution.
A 5x improvement in fatigue life was achieved with the Stegostation upgrade vs cutting out the main chord and replacing it with the OEM in-kind repair.
